For the first time in recent past we were in control of our own boat and the good news is Nigeria’s world cup qualification for the world s greatest football fiesta. For years our qualification often rests on the screens of calculators as we love to embrace the mathematical principles of permutation.
2-1 victory over Zambia in Ndola, 3-1 against group favorites Algeria, a 4-0 win and a 1 all draw against Cameroun placed us in firm position to qualify till Zambia did the unthinkable against Algeria. A frosty first half saw the duo of Moses Simon and Victor Moses unsettle the Zambia defense with their pacy runs with the former providing a well tailored cross which was missed. It was not until the 22nd minute we had our first substitution with Mikel Agu coming in as replacement for injured Ogenyi Onazi.
Simon Moses was however replaced in the 66th minute for Iwobi who scored the match winner 7minute after. As Victor Moses did well to find Shehu Abudullahi on the right flank before his cross met Iwobi who was right there to slot it in the net. Other chances created in the game where however not converted but for now we do thank Rohr and his players for doing the nation proud. God bless Nigeria
